The Role Remix: EMPIRE is looking for a Royalty Analyst to join our downtown San Francisco office. This role will report into the Senior Director, Revenue and will be responsible for maintaining and managing label accounts in our proprietary royalty management system, reviewing and processing royalty payments, and resolving payment reconciliation issues with our accounting and payments systems. The position requires very good knowledge of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work with and manage a complex royalty management system.

This position will require a substantial training period to learn our system and become familiar with a large number of label relationships. This position also requires a highly motivated and flexible individual, comfortable with working in a smaller accounting department.

• Setup and maintain client label and artist accounts in proprietary royalty management system
• Develop deep understanding of royalty management system, its functionality and communication with accounting and payments systems
• Initiate (as required), review and process large number of monthly royalty payments
• Develop in-depth knowledge of labels and their contractual royalties
• Identify, analyze and resolve quickly discrepancies or errors in royalty calculations
• Communicate with labels as needed
• Identify and resolve accounting and data transfer issues between royalty management system, payments systems and the accounting system
• Identifying & communicating legal issues with our legal team
• Analyzing, verifying and updating payment information received from various internal and external sources
• Responsibilities may also include some general operational accounting and finance duties, as needed.

Requirements

Key Notes for Success:

• BA/BS degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent experience
• 3-5 years of experience in operational accounting or financial analysis
• Basic understanding of royalty accounting
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong Excel skills
• Excellent facility with computers. Tech-savvy, with fast comprehension of various commonly used accounting and payments systems
• Must be detail oriented and familiar with royalty calculations based on signed contracts and agreements
• Must be flexible to work under time constraints and monthly deadlines
• Ability to prioritize, adhere to deadlines, and perform multiple tasks

Bonus Beats:

• Merchandising, Music, or Entertainment industry experience is desired
• Experience with QuickBooks Online and Bill.com desired but not required

Pay Range: $75,000 - $85,000/annual salary benefits discretionary bonus profit sharing program

The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
